It’s great when you get definitive confirmation that contributors to a website or magazine you read daily are indeed as geeked out about things as you are. Such was the case when I came across an article on Wired that detailed photographer Dan Winters’ inspired construction of a TIE Fighter out of Starbucks materials. You can just opt to not get that lousy whipped cream and put in an order for 12 large macchiato. Yes, “large” and not “grande.” I’m putting my foot down on that ridiculousness.
Wired is holding a contest to see what readers can come up with using only free Starbucks materials. Coffee cups from a purchase are OK to use as well, and you’re allowed glue, tape, and string for structural support. All you have to do is create the item, take a pic, and upload it with building instructions to a Wiki page.
No prize is offered, other than the satisfaction of creating a Millenium Falcon to blast Winters’ TIE fighter out of the sky.
