With just a teaser image to go on I had no real idea what Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs could end up being. The children’s book itself doesn’t lend itself well to a full length animated (and in 3D…ooooh!) film. So the movie writers have bulked it up with Flint Lockwood, a scientist who invents a way to convert water into food. This results in clouds raining down burgers, pancakes, and even Jell-O.
The first teaser trailer is now online and I have to say I’m a little excited to see Cloudy. 2009 proved to be a great year for animated film, but Sony has yet to do something monumental for me in this realm. Cloudy looks charming enough to finally give Sony a shot at the family friendly animated cash that Disney and Dreamworks have locked up currently.
Oh, and who wouldn’t want to spend an afternoon bouncing around a giant Jell-O mold? Watch the official teaser trailer at Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ website.
