I don’t know about you but Food Network Challenge has always been a background show for me. I’ll watch as pastry chefs try to build fairy tale scenes out of chocolate while folding the laundry. But I guess the Food Network just wants me to be invested, because now they’re launching Food Network Challenge: Last Cake Standing, a four week “all-star” challenge.
Beginning April 5th the contestants will be thrown varying challenges, with one contestant being eliminated each week. I’m not sure if this going to be a new format for the show or just a one-off event. For the television factor it sounds more exciting. I mean, millions of people flock to shows that feature such weekly eliminations. Why can’t cakes join in the party?
The four round competition will see the contestants creating wedding cakes and going through a 24 hour cake-making marathon. The six contestants vying for the title are: Michelle Bommarito, Courtney Clark, Mary Maher, James Rosselle, Elisa Strauss, and Bronwen Weber. Don’t worry, I’ve only heard of a few of these people too.
The Last Cake Standing challenge begins on April 5th as the contestants make a signature cake, and then are told they will eliminate the first person…not the judges. Food Network Challenge: Last Cake Standing airs on the Food Network Sundays at 8:00 pm ET.
