It’s like Celebrity Deathmatch, only not anything like it and starring Gordon Ramsey. That’s what I get out of the recent announcement that celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey, most known for his Yosemite Sam impression on Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, is getting a stop motion animation series.
Cuppa Coffee Studios in Vancouver will be producing the half-hour comedy Gordon Ramsey, at Your Service. The show will feature a stop motion version of Ramsey doing missions based upon his public personality. Right now there is no one else attached, and the show is going to be shopped around at Mipcom in Cannes.
My concern is that while I loved Deathmatch, that show got tired quickly. Also I’m wondering when Ramsey stops becoming known as a chef and simply as a celebrity. While he’s running his empire outside of the kitchen there’s no doubt he remains a premiere chef in the world, but projects like this are taking him further from the actual culinary world. Hell’s Kitchen, and all of its silliness is one thing, this might just be too much.
