Jump into your Way Back machine and land in the month of February. Remember the show Dinner Impossible on Food Network? Remember how Chef Robert Irvine was relieved of his impossible duties after it was revealed he inflated his resume? OK, that’s what happened if you weren’t already aware. At least now you know why Chef Michael Symon has been appearing in the most recent episodes.
In an odd twist the Food Network has announced Chef Irvine will be returning to the show in March 2009 for 6 episodes. I don’t particularly care for Irvine as a chef, but he fits the show far better than Chef Symon. And it would seem the fans thought the same. “Our audience has continued to demonstrate its interest in and support for Robert,” Food Network spokesperson Carrie Welch told the AP.
Chef Irvine has apologized for his past transgressions and begun working to rebuild a professional relationship with Food Network. Honestly I don’t care that he fudged his resume, as long as he is actually capable of doing the job hired for it shouldn’t matter. That may be morally ambiguous, but anyone who knows me can attest to the fact I’m not a hard nosed guy. Just do what you do well and I’m OK. Chef Irvine headed up Dinner Impossible well enough for me to understand Food Network’s flippity flopping.
