The term “food porn” has come to mean just about any picture of food. We use it here at Munch Monster in such a way quite often. But Anthony Bourdain has no interest in mere food pictures. When Bourdain thinks “food porn” he thinks of dishes that just ooze sexiness. Those items on a plate, like crispy pork skin tacos, that are just as obscene as can be. To some these dripping dishes are pure ecstasy, and for others they are disgusting. And that’s part of what makes them so appealing.
This week’s No Reservations delves deep into the food porn phenomenon with some edible concoctions that are indeed pornographic. While I’ll miss fresh travels and tales from Bourdain ,he is joined by friend and chef Eric Ripert. Chef Ripert is always a great juxtaposition for the brazen Bourdain. Just watch chef Ripert on last week’s Top Chef; he’s so calm and reassuring. I can’t wait to see what these two, along with Alan Wong, Martin Picard and others make of the dishes Bourdain chose to be featured as examples of true food porn.
No Reservations airs on the Travel Channel Monday nights at 10:00pm EST.
