February 24th is National Pancake Day. That means it’s time to enjoy some delicious stacks of fluffy goodness. You could make your own, and I do recommend doing so at some point, but national pancake chain IHOP will be giving out free short stacks of buttermilk pancakes from 7 am to 10 pm. It’s not totally free as customers will be asked to donate the price of a meal – or more, if desired – to a local childrens hospital or charity.
You’re still getting a stack of pancakes for free because you could be a jerk and not donate, and I doubt you’ll be given much hassle. The shame may keep you from doing it, but not all of us are honest folk. It’s actually not a bad counter to the Denny’s free Grandslam after the Super Bowl because IHOP is doing this for charity – as they have been since the “holiday” was first conceived in 2006 – and not only to promote their product.
What better way to get your fill of milk, butter, and eggs before you have to give them up for Lent? Me, I celebrate every Tuesday as Mardi Gras.
