This Popeye’s situation needs to be addressed. The recent promotion by Popeye’s, a chicken fast food joint, has made people lose their minds. People showed up at a location in Rochester, NY to find that the store had closed because they ran out of chicken. You see, the company ran a promo where you could buy an 8 piece bucket (or whatever this place calls it) for $4.99. Normally it’s about $10.
That’s a great deal. But the people who showed up were pissed. They couldn’t understand how the store could run out of chicken. Let’s start with: while supplies last. That’s always the caveat, and you can’t expect every store in the country to stockpile $100,000 worth of product because you’re cheap.
It gets worse though. These same people make exclamations about how they’ll feed their kids. I’ve got a fantastic solution; you’ll slap yourself for not thinking of it first. I bought a whole chicken for $4.66 recently, and if you’re going full on organic/grass fed you can get one from a local farm for about $9. Either way that’s cheaper than what Popeye’s normally offers. Plus you have enough meat to feed an entire family, plus all of those lovely bones to make stock with.
To help those who say they can’t cook: salt, pepper, 350 degree oven. Eat.
