winehotel Sleep In A Wine Cask To Become A True Vino ConnoisseurWine enthusiasts can boast about their impressive wine cellar, and the collection of fine wines that go along with such a use of space. But until they’ve slept in a wine-cask I will call shenanigans on their claim to be wine aficionados. You may think I’m too harsh, but since the Hotel de Vrouwe van Stavoren allows you to do just that there’s no excuse. Well, maybe the excuse of the economy tanking and all of their money being tied up in vintage wines could be acceptable. For now.

The hotel, located in the village of Stavoren in the Netherlands, features four rooms built inside 14,500 liter wine casks. Because wine casks are so tightly sealed they make efficient living quarters. And you’re not sleeping on wine soaked wood when paying the $150 per night. The rooms feature common modern amenities like television and radio. Plus the scenic little town appears to be a great spot to relax and get away for a bit.

I wonder if my wife would be interested in staying in one of these rooms, and if she’d mind if I dressed up as Gandalf and bumped my head on things as I tried to maneuver through the Hobbit dwelling.
