Phew. Even though I’m not currently cooking all of the recipes that have gone up for our Thanksgiving coverage it is still a tiring process getting all of that info out to you. What that means is the easiest dinner possible. Matt, one of the managers at the restaurant, has been asking me to do more salad recipes. I’m of a similar mind to Tom Colicchio in that I don’t necessarily consider making a salad actual cooking. Road trip! One of my favorite things about making a long trip is getting to stop for food. Of course, I’m usually cranky and tired when driving and will often be the first to suggest we just plow on through. If you’re a fellow American look around. Take a look at all of the people that you see each day eating that healthy lifestyle. They drink wheat grass shakes, which I personally know tastes like getting tackled during a game of backyard football. They may accept meat in their diet, but only 3 oz of flavorless chicken breast with a smidge of salt. And yet, we Americans are the fattest and most out of shape country in the world. There are a lot of foods that we Americans cook up and enjoy. As so many foodies have been proclaiming there are even more we just ignore. When I was younger, I’m thinking around the age of 17 although at 28 my memory really isn’t what it used to be, I decided to throw together dinner for myself and the family. Now, this wasn’t all that unusual as dinner at the West household often consisted of the “fend for yourself” recipe that it seems so many families have adopted.
