It’s been quiet here on the Munch Monster front. Too quiet, I know. I apologize for that, and instead of excuses I’ll just say I hope things will begin picking up very soon. I start work at a new restaurant in a few days, so for a late anniversary gift I took my wife to my new place of employment. One thing I’ve learned in my second year covering the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah is that you have to allot time for food. While Main Street is reportedly filled with restaurants to dine at, there’s the small issue of seeing films all day and still finding time to sit and eat. What that ends up meaning is you’ll likely spend the majority of time waiting for food, taking it with you, and finding a spot to crash and scarf before going to the next movie. more…
Walking into a restaurant called Tokyo Seoul you may expect to find contemporary Asian fusion cuisine. In a way you find just that, depending on how you choose to enjoy your experience at the family run restaurant on the East side of Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Kim met in Seoul, South Korea and just knew that the food they found there was fantastic. So fantastic that, back in Syracuse the school teacher and her husband opened up their very own restaurant. more…
I love Mexican food. Not the Ortega boxed taco kits, although those are OK in a pinch. I’m talking some real tasty authentic Mexican. Where you get generous portions of rice and beans to accompany your tasty burrito, or heck how about some tostadas? You rarely find the flat tasty treat at the average Mexican joint, and for such a simple dish that’s a travesty. Those of us here in Syracuse have limited choice in Mexican fare. more…
Road trip! One of my favorite things about making a long trip is getting to stop for food. Of course, I’m usually cranky and tired when driving and will often be the first to suggest we just plow on through. But every now and then I do relent and stop for a bite, and it’s these times I find hidden treasures in the landscape. Take my college touring time during high school.
