The James Beard Foundation Awards are like the Oscars, Grammy’s, and Emmy’s all rolled into one for the food world. The Oscagremmy’s? In any case the awards recognize the great work done by pretty much every aspect of food, from restaurants to writers. There’s fudge and pie. Decadent sweet treats like praline, and of course cakes. But for me, and I think it’s safe to assume for most of you, the cookie is the greatest holiday treat. My family were always purists with the chocolate chip and Christmas tree sugar cookies making the rounds at least a few times each Holiday season. But those aren’t the only cookies to be had. more…
